Course Introduction
Inclusive rural development and social protection are essential pillars for reducing poverty, inequality, and vulnerability in rural communities. This course is designed to equip practitioners with practical skills to design and implement integrated development and social protection programs that ensure no one is left behind.
Rural populations often face multidimensional challenges including income insecurity, limited access to services, climate shocks, and structural inequalities. Social protection systems provide critical safety nets while rural development initiatives create pathways for sustainable livelihoods and resilience building.
This training explores the intersection between social protection mechanisms such as cash transfers, insurance schemes, and safety nets, and broader rural development strategies. Participants will learn how to integrate these systems to achieve inclusive and sustainable development outcomes.
A strong focus is placed on vulnerable groups including women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalized rural households. The course highlights strategies for targeting, inclusion, and equity in program design and implementation.
Participants will also examine policy frameworks, institutional arrangements, and financing models that support effective social protection and rural development integration. Emphasis is placed on coordination across sectors such as agriculture, health, and education.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to design, implement, and evaluate inclusive rural development and social protection programs that strengthen resilience, reduce poverty, and promote equitable growth.
