Course Introduction

Inclusive Community Development for Persons with Disabilities is a specialized course designed to promote equal participation, dignity, and empowerment of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in all aspects of community development. It focuses on removing barriers and creating inclusive systems that enable full participation.

The course explores the social, environmental, and institutional barriers that limit the inclusion of persons with disabilities. Participants will learn how discrimination, inaccessible infrastructure, and policy gaps affect opportunities for PWDs in education, employment, and community life.

A strong emphasis is placed on inclusive development frameworks and rights-based approaches. The course highlights international conventions such as the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and their application in local development contexts.

Participants will also examine practical strategies for designing accessible infrastructure, inclusive services, and disability-friendly community programs. It demonstrates how universal design principles can be applied to create barrier-free environments.

Training Approach
