Course Introduction
Humanitarian procurement planning and vendor risk management are essential components of effective and accountable emergency response operations. This course provides participants with practical skills to design, manage, and monitor procurement systems that ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of humanitarian aid.
The program explores procurement planning frameworks used by NGOs, UN agencies, and international organizations, focusing on how to align procurement processes with programmatic needs, budgets, and donor compliance requirements in fast-moving emergency environments.
A strong emphasis is placed on vendor risk management, including supplier prequalification, due diligence, performance monitoring, and fraud prevention. Participants will learn how to identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement in high-pressure contexts.
The course also examines procurement ethics, transparency mechanisms, and anti-corruption safeguards to ensure accountability in humanitarian supply chains. It highlights how procurement decisions directly affect program quality and beneficiary outcomes.
