Course Introduction

Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus (HDP Nexus) Course is designed to equip humanitarian practitioners, development professionals, peacebuilding actors, and policy specialists with the knowledge and practical skills required to design, implement, and coordinate integrated responses across humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding contexts. In today’s complex global environment, crises are increasingly protracted and interconnected, requiring coordinated, long-term, and sustainable approaches rather than fragmented interventions.

The course explores the conceptual foundations of the HDP Nexus, including its evolution within global policy frameworks such as the UN reforms, Sustainable Development Goals, and humanitarian reform agendas. Participants will gain a deep understanding of how humanitarian action, development programming, and peacebuilding efforts can be aligned to address root causes of vulnerability, conflict, and instability in affected communities.

Effective implementation of the HDP Nexus requires strong coordination mechanisms, strategic planning, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. This course examines how governments, NGOs, UN agencies, and local actors can work together to ensure complementarity, reduce duplication, and maximize collective impact.
