Course Introduction

Horticultural export production plays a vital role in global agricultural trade, generating income, employment, and foreign exchange for producing countries. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of export-oriented horticultural systems, quality standards, and international market requirements.

Global demand for fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and specialty horticultural products continues to rise, driven by changing consumer preferences and health-conscious markets. Participants will learn how to align production systems with stringent export market standards.

The training explores production planning, crop selection, and agronomic practices tailored for export quality horticultural products. Emphasis is placed on meeting phytosanitary requirements, traceability systems, and compliance with international food safety standards.

A strong focus is placed on post-harvest handling, grading, packaging, and cold chain management to ensure product freshness and market competitiveness. Participants will gain practical skills in minimizing losses and maintaining quality throughout the supply chain.

The course also covers certification systems such as GLOBALG.A.P., organic certification, and export documentation processes. These elements are essential for accessing premium international markets and maintaining buyer confidence.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design and manage export-oriented horticultural production systems that meet global quality standards and maximize profitability.
