Course Introduction

Healthcare law and regulatory affairs govern one of the most sensitive and complex sectors in modern society, ensuring that health systems operate safely, ethically, and in compliance with national and international legal standards. This course provides a structured understanding of how healthcare services are regulated and legally managed.

The healthcare environment is increasingly shaped by evolving legal frameworks covering patient rights, medical ethics, clinical governance, pharmaceutical regulation, data protection, and institutional accountability. Professionals in this sector must navigate these rules while maintaining service quality and patient safety.

This course explores the legal foundations of healthcare systems, including statutory regulations, licensing requirements, regulatory oversight structures, and compliance obligations for healthcare providers, insurers, pharmaceutical companies, and public health institutions.

Participants will gain insights into patient consent laws, malpractice liability, healthcare contracts, and institutional governance frameworks that define how healthcare services are delivered and monitored in both public and private systems.

A strong focus is placed on regulatory affairs, including how health regulators develop, implement, and enforce standards to ensure quality care delivery, safe medical products, and ethical professional conduct across the healthcare ecosystem.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to interpret healthcare laws, assess regulatory compliance risks, and contribute effectively to governance, policy development, and legal oversight within healthcare systems.
