Course Introduction
Graph databases provide a powerful approach to managing and analyzing data where relationships, connections, and interactions are as important as individual records. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of graph database concepts, graph data modeling, query techniques, connected data analysis, and practical applications across modern enterprise and analytical environments.
The program introduces participants to the fundamental principles of graph databases, including nodes, relationships, properties, labels, traversals, paths, and graph structures. Participants will examine how graph-oriented approaches differ from traditional relational and other NoSQL models, and how they can support use cases involving highly connected information, complex relationships, dynamic networks, and rapidly changing datasets.
A major focus is placed on graph data modeling and query development. Participants will learn how to transform business and research requirements into effective graph structures, identify entities and relationships, design property graphs, and develop queries for traversing connected data. The course also explores graph query languages, pattern matching, filtering, aggregation, path analysis, and techniques for extracting meaningful insights from interconnected datasets.
Participants will explore practical applications of connected data analytics, including fraud detection, recommendation systems, social network analysis, identity resolution, supply chain analysis, knowledge graphs, cybersecurity, customer intelligence, and dependency analysis. The course demonstrates how graph techniques can reveal relationships and patterns that may be difficult to identify using conventional tabular analysis alone.
The program also addresses graph database performance, scalability, indexing, partitioning, data ingestion, integration, security, governance, and operational management. Participants will examine how graph databases can be deployed within cloud, hybrid, and distributed environments and integrated with APIs, microservices, data warehouses, lakehouses, machine learning platforms, and enterprise data ecosystems.
Emerging topics are incorporated throughout the program, including knowledge graphs, graph machine learning, graph neural networks, vector and graph technologies, artificial intelligence applications, semantic layers, real-time graph analytics, and graph-based retrieval. By the end of the course, participants will be able to design graph data models, query connected datasets, conduct relationship-focused analysis, and apply graph technologies to modern data management and analytical challenges.
