Introduction

Universities increasingly rely on external funding to support research, innovation, and capacity-building initiatives. At the same time, the expectations on faculty and academic staff to deliver participant-centered, impactful teaching have never been higher. This course integrates two vital competencies: grant proposal writing and university pedagogy providing a holistic approach to advancing academic careers and institutional goals.

The first part of the course focuses on Grant Proposal Writing, equipping participants with the skills to identify suitable funding opportunities, develop well-structured proposals, and align their ideas with donor priorities. Participants will learn how to formulate problem statements, craft objectives, build budgets, and write compelling narratives that meet the standards of various funding agencies, including governmental, non-profit, and international bodies. The course also covers essential aspects such as logic models, theory of change, monitoring and evaluation, and grant management fundamentals.

The second part of the course explores University Pedagogy, introducing participants to contemporary teaching philosophies, curriculum design, and learning assessment strategies in higher education. Through practical exercises and discussions, participants will gain insights into adult learning principles, student engagement techniques, inclusive teaching practices, and the use of digital tools in blended or online learning environments. Special emphasis is placed on reflective teaching, academic integrity, and fostering critical thinking in university classrooms.

By the end of this dual-focus course, participants will be equipped not only to win competitive grants but also to elevate their teaching practice to meet the evolving demands of higher education. Whether you are a lecturer, researcher, or academic administrator, this course offers essential tools to enhance both your scholarly impact and educational effectiveness, thereby contributing to institutional excellence and sustainability.
