Course Introduction

Government innovation increasingly depends on ecosystems that extend beyond individual ministries and agencies. Universities, technology companies, startups, civil-society organizations, development partners, professional associations, communities, research institutions, and citizens can contribute expertise, technology, finance, data, infrastructure, and implementation capability. This course equips public-sector professionals with advanced approaches for understanding, designing, governing, and managing innovation ecosystems that mobilize diverse capabilities around important public challenges.

The programme examines how government institutions can move from isolated innovation projects toward coordinated ecosystems and purposeful partnerships. Government organizations often possess significant public mandates and institutional knowledge but may lack specialized technologies, research capacity, entrepreneurial capabilities, advanced data expertise, or resources required to address rapidly evolving challenges.
