Course Introduction

Government Experimentation and Rapid Prototyping Training Course equips public officials, policy professionals, programme managers, and innovation teams with practical methods for testing ideas before committing significant public resources. It introduces experimentation as a disciplined approach to reducing uncertainty, learning quickly, and improving policies, programmes, processes, and citizen-facing services through structured evidence and iteration.

The programme explores how governments can move from assumptions and lengthy planning cycles toward practical learning through controlled experiments, prototypes, pilots, simulations, and iterative testing. Participants examine how to formulate testable hypotheses, identify critical assumptions, select appropriate experimental approaches, and establish learning objectives that generate useful evidence for public sector decision-making.

A strong emphasis is placed on rapid prototyping as a mechanism for turning abstract policy concepts and service ideas into tangible models that can be examined by users and stakeholders. Participants learn how to develop low-cost prototypes, mock-ups, service simulations, digital concepts, process models, and minimum viable interventions that expose weaknesses early and create opportunities for timely improvement.
