Course Introduction

Global tax transparency has become a cornerstone of modern international fiscal governance as governments strive to combat tax evasion, illicit financial flows, and cross-border financial secrecy. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of global transparency frameworks and mechanisms for exchange of tax information between jurisdictions.

In an increasingly interconnected global economy, taxpayers and corporations operate across multiple jurisdictions, often exploiting information gaps between tax authorities. This program examines how international cooperation helps close these gaps and ensures that income and assets are properly disclosed and taxed.

The course explores key global standards such as the OECD Common Reporting Standard (CRS), Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI), and Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) frameworks. Participants will understand how these systems enhance global tax compliance and reduce offshore tax avoidance.

Exchange of information mechanisms play a critical role in strengthening domestic revenue systems by enabling tax authorities to access financial data held in foreign jurisdictions. This course explains how bilateral and multilateral agreements facilitate transparency and improve enforcement capabilities.

Participants will also examine the institutional and legal challenges associated with implementing global transparency standards. Issues such as data privacy, sovereignty concerns, and capacity limitations are analyzed to provide a balanced understanding of international tax cooperation.

Ultimately, this course equips professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to engage in global tax cooperation initiatives, strengthen compliance systems, and support the fight against cross-border tax evasion and illicit financial flows
