Course Introduction

This course provides a comprehensive and practical understanding of how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are applied in utility network management for efficient planning, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure systems. It equips learners with advanced spatial utility management skills.

The training focuses on integrating spatial data, asset information, and network topology to manage electricity, water, gas, and telecommunications utility systems. Participants will learn how GIS supports intelligent utility network design and operational efficiency.

A strong emphasis is placed on asset mapping, network tracing, outage management, infrastructure planning, and maintenance scheduling. Learners will gain hands-on experience in managing complex utility datasets and spatial utility systems.

The course also explores applications in smart cities, infrastructure modernization, disaster response for utilities, urban service delivery, and digital twin utility systems. Participants will understand how GIS improves reliability and service performance.

Emerging technologies such as IoT-integrated utility networks, AI-driven predictive maintenance, cloud GIS platforms, real-time network monitoring, and automated utility analytics systems are incorporated into the curriculum.

Finally, the course prepares professionals to design and implement GIS-based utility network management systems that enhance operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and support sustainable infrastructure development.
