Course Introduction

Protected areas such as national parks, wildlife reserves, and conservation zones play a crucial role in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem protection. Effective management of these areas requires accurate spatial information and continuous monitoring to ensure sustainability and ecological balance.

GIS technology provides powerful tools for mapping, analyzing, and managing protected areas by integrating spatial, ecological, and socio-economic data. It enables conservation managers to visualize habitat distribution, monitor land-use changes, and track human activities within protected zones.

This course introduces participants to the application of GIS in protected area management, focusing on spatial planning, conservation monitoring, and biodiversity assessment. It emphasizes the use of geospatial tools to support decision-making in environmental protection.

Participants will learn how to integrate remote sensing data, field surveys, and ecological datasets into GIS platforms to monitor wildlife habitats, assess ecosystem health, and manage conservation priorities effectively.

The training also explores emerging technologies such as drone-based wildlife monitoring, AI-driven habitat modeling, real-time park surveillance systems, and cloud-based conservation data platforms that enhance modern protected area management.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to apply GIS tools to design conservation strategies, monitor protected areas, and support sustainable management of biodiversity and natural ecosystems.
