Course Introduction

Infrastructure resilience planning is essential for ensuring that critical systems such as roads, bridges, water supply, energy networks, and communication systems can withstand, adapt to, and recover from natural and human-induced hazards.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) provide powerful capabilities for analyzing infrastructure vulnerability, assessing risk exposure, and supporting resilient planning through spatial modeling and visualization of critical assets and hazard zones.

This training course introduces participants to GIS-based infrastructure resilience planning, focusing on how spatial data can be used to evaluate system weaknesses, anticipate disruptions, and design adaptive infrastructure strategies.

Participants will learn how to integrate infrastructure datasets, hazard information, and environmental data into GIS platforms to assess resilience levels and prioritize investment decisions for infrastructure protection.

The course also explores advanced spatial analysis techniques for scenario modeling, critical infrastructure mapping, and resilience index development to support sustainable infrastructure systems.

By the end of the training, learners will be able to design GIS-based infrastructure resilience frameworks that strengthen preparedness, reduce vulnerability, and enhance recovery capacity.

Duration
