Course Introduction

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have become a fundamental tool in modern environmental management, enabling professionals to capture, analyze, and visualize spatial data for informed decision-making. This course introduces participants to the core principles and advanced applications of GIS in addressing environmental challenges.

Environmental issues such as deforestation, land degradation, water pollution, and climate change require spatially driven solutions. GIS provides the ability to integrate environmental datasets and generate insights that support sustainable planning and resource management at local, regional, and global scales.
