Course Introduction

The GIS for Blue Economy and Coastal Investment Planning Course provides a specialized and forward-looking exploration of how geospatial intelligence supports sustainable ocean economy development, coastal resource management, and strategic maritime investment planning. It equips participants with advanced spatial tools for evidence-based coastal decision-making.

The course introduces foundational concepts of the blue economy, coastal spatial systems, and marine geospatial data infrastructures. Participants will learn how GIS supports coastal zoning, marine spatial planning, and integrated ocean resource management for sustainable economic growth.

A strong emphasis is placed on mapping coastal assets, identifying investment opportunities in maritime sectors, and analyzing environmental risks affecting coastal development. Participants will explore how spatial intelligence improves port planning, fisheries management, and tourism development strategies.

The program further examines climate impacts on coastal zones, including sea-level rise, erosion patterns, and ecosystem degradation. Participants will understand how GIS enables resilience planning and sustainable investment strategies in vulnerable coastal regions.

Participants will also engage with advanced technologies such as satellite ocean monitoring, marine remote sensing, and AI-powered coastal analytics systems. These tools support real-time decision-making for maritime infrastructure and investment planning.

Ultimately, the course prepares professionals to design and implement GIS-driven blue economy strategies that enhance coastal resilience, optimize marine investments, and promote sustainable ocean resource utilization.
