Course Introduction

Gender equity in public finance and fiscal governance is a critical pillar for achieving inclusive and sustainable economic development. This course equips participants with advanced knowledge and practical tools to integrate gender-responsive approaches into budgeting, taxation, and public expenditure systems.

Public finance systems often reflect and reinforce structural inequalities when gender considerations are not embedded in fiscal planning and governance. This program explores how gender-responsive budgeting can transform resource allocation to promote fairness and social justice.

Participants will examine how fiscal policies influence gender equality outcomes, including access to public services, economic opportunities, and social protection systems, with a focus on reducing systemic disparities.

The course provides practical frameworks for analyzing budgets from a gender perspective, enabling participants to identify gaps in resource distribution and design corrective fiscal interventions that promote equity.

It also explores transparency and accountability mechanisms in public finance management, ensuring that fiscal systems are responsive to the needs of women, men, and marginalized groups.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design, implement, and evaluate gender-responsive fiscal policies that strengthen governance, accountability, and inclusive economic growth.
