Introduction

The Gender, Equity, and Inclusion in Project Planning and Delivery Course provides participants with an in-depth understanding of how to mainstream gender equality, promote social inclusion, and ensure equitable outcomes throughout the project cycle. This course emphasizes the importance of inclusive approaches that recognize diverse needs and perspectives, enabling organizations to deliver sustainable and impactful development interventions.

Projects that ignore gender and inclusion dynamics risk reinforcing inequalities and undermining long-term development goals. This course helps participants identify and address barriers to participation, ensuring that women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups have equal access to opportunities, resources, and decision-making processes in project environments.

Participants will explore frameworks such as Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), human rights-based approaches, and gender-responsive budgeting to integrate equity considerations into project design, implementation, and evaluation. The course draws on international best practices, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), CEDAW, and other gender mainstreaming policies.

Through interactive sessions, real-life case studies, and practical exercises, participants will gain the skills to conduct gender analyses, develop inclusive project indicators, and apply participatory methodologies that empower underrepresented groups. The course also explores intersectionality; how gender interacts with age, class, disability, and ethnicity to help practitioners design interventions that are sensitive to diverse experiences.

As the global development agenda increasingly prioritizes equality and inclusivity, professionals who can effectively apply GESI principles are in high demand. This course equips participants with actionable tools to make development and humanitarian projects more inclusive, equitable, and transformative.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to embed gender and inclusion considerations in every phase of project management, contributing to more just, resilient, and people-centered development outcomes.
