Introduction

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response Training Course equips professionals with practical knowledge and tools to prevent, identify, and respond effectively to gender-based violence across humanitarian, development, institutional, and community settings. The course emphasizes survivor-centered approaches that promote dignity, confidentiality, safety, and access to justice and support services for individuals affected by violence and harmful practices.

Gender-based violence remains a significant global challenge affecting women, men, girls, and boys in diverse social and economic environments. GBV includes physical violence, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, early marriage, harmful cultural practices, exploitation, trafficking, and intimate partner violence. This training provides practical frameworks to strengthen prevention mechanisms and response systems supporting survivors’ protection and recovery.

Participants will gain comprehensive understanding of international conventions, national legal frameworks, safeguarding policies, and ethical standards guiding GBV prevention and response programming. The course emphasizes human rights approaches that strengthen protection systems, improve service coordination, and enhance professional accountability in addressing gender-based violence cases.

The training integrates emerging issues such as online harassment, digital gender-based violence, intersectionality, survivor empowerment approaches, trauma-informed care, and integration of GBV programming into social protection, health, education, and humanitarian systems. Participants explore coordinated multi-sector approaches supporting comprehensive service delivery and prevention strategies.

Through practical case studies, role plays, and simulations, participants will strengthen competencies in case management, risk assessment, referral coordination, communication with survivors, documentation of cases, and monitoring program effectiveness. The course enhances professional confidence in managing sensitive GBV cases while maintaining confidentiality and ethical practice standards.

By the end of the training, participants will demonstrate improved ability to design prevention strategies, strengthen response mechanisms, support survivors, influence policy development, and contribute to safer environments that promote equality, dignity, and protection for all individuals at risk of gender-based violence.
