Introduction

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a pervasive challenge in humanitarian emergencies, disproportionately affecting women, girls, and vulnerable groups. This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, respond to, and mitigate GBV risks in emergency contexts.

Participants will explore the social, cultural, and structural drivers of GBV, emphasizing the need for context-sensitive interventions. The course integrates international humanitarian standards, policies, and best practices to ensure ethical and effective programming.

The course highlights protection frameworks and survivor-centered approaches. Participants will learn to design interventions that prioritize safety, dignity, and empowerment, while addressing the immediate and long-term needs of affected populations.

Coordination among humanitarian actors, local authorities, and community-based organizations is essential for effective GBV response. Participants will gain practical skills in inter-agency collaboration, referral pathways, and multisectoral program implementation.

Monitoring, evaluation, and learning are central to improving GBV programming. The course covers data collection, analysis, and reporting, emphasizing accountability, confidentiality, and ethical considerations in emergency settings.

Through case studies, simulations, and participatory exercises, participants will develop practical competencies to prevent and respond to GBV, strengthen survivor support mechanisms, and implement comprehensive, evidence-based emergency interventions.
