Introduction

Sustainable resource management is essential for addressing global environmental challenges and achieving equitable development. Integrating gender perspectives into resource management ensures that policies, programs, and interventions are inclusive, effective, and socially just. The Gender and Sustainable Resource Management Training Course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to promote gender-responsive approaches in natural resource planning and management.

This course emphasizes the interconnection between gender equality, environmental sustainability, and community resilience. Participants will explore how gender norms, roles, and power dynamics influence access to, control over, and utilization of natural resources. The training fosters an understanding of gender-sensitive policies and practices that enhance sustainability outcomes and social equity.

Participants will gain practical tools for integrating gender considerations into resource management planning, monitoring, and evaluation. The course highlights strategies for mainstreaming gender in forestry, water, agriculture, energy, and biodiversity management, ensuring that resource use benefits all community members equitably.

Emerging issues, including climate change adaptation, renewable energy, environmental justice, and participatory governance, are examined through a gender lens. The course emphasizes evidence-based decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and the development of inclusive strategies that promote sustainable development goals.

The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical exercises, case studies, and interactive discussions. Participants will learn to design, implement, and evaluate gender-responsive initiatives, fostering skills in advocacy, policy development, and community engagement in sustainable resource management.

By the end of the training, participants will be capable of driving institutional change, influencing policy, and implementing gender-sensitive programs in resource management. They will understand how to create inclusive strategies that enhance environmental stewardship while empowering women and marginalized groups.
