Introduction

Land ownership and access are critical determinants of economic empowerment, social equity, and sustainable development. Yet, women in many regions face systemic barriers to land rights. This training course provides participants with the knowledge and tools to strengthen women’s ownership, access, and control over land resources.

The course examines the legal, social, and cultural frameworks that influence land tenure and property rights. Participants will gain a deep understanding of gender disparities in land ownership and learn practical strategies to address these inequalities.

Participants will explore the intersection of land rights with economic empowerment, agricultural productivity, and community development. Emphasis is placed on creating inclusive land governance structures that ensure equitable access for women.

Emerging topics such as land administration digitization, customary law reforms, climate-resilient land management, and innovative financing for women’s land ownership are integrated. Participants will analyze how these trends impact women’s security and agency.

The training also highlights advocacy, policy engagement, and stakeholder mobilization strategies necessary for promoting women’s land rights. Participants will develop competencies to influence policies, strengthen governance, and foster transparency in land allocation processes.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to design and implement gender-responsive land initiatives, improve access to land for women, and contribute to equitable and sustainable development outcomes.
