Introduction

Humanitarian crises disproportionately affect women and girls, exacerbating pre-existing inequalities and vulnerabilities. The Gender and Humanitarian Action in Crisis Contexts Training Course equips participants with practical skills, knowledge, and strategies to integrate gender perspectives into humanitarian interventions and response mechanisms.

The course examines the unique needs, risks, and capacities of women, men, and marginalized groups during emergencies, including conflicts, natural disasters, and displacement. Participants will learn approaches to ensure equitable access to aid and protection for all affected populations.

Participants will develop competencies in gender analysis, protection mainstreaming, program planning, and implementation in crisis contexts. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based decision-making, participatory approaches, and gender-responsive coordination in humanitarian settings.

Emerging topics such as gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, inclusive shelter and WASH programming, digital tools for crisis response, and community-led interventions are incorporated. Participants will explore innovative strategies to strengthen gender-responsive humanitarian action.

The course also covers international and regional frameworks, including the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, IASC Guidelines on Gender in Humanitarian Action, and relevant human rights instruments. Participants will understand how to align humanitarian programs with global standards for gender equality and protection.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to design, implement, and monitor gender-responsive humanitarian programs, advocate for inclusive protection policies, lead multi-stakeholder coordination efforts, and contribute to effective, equitable, and sustainable crisis interventions.
