Introduction

Promoting gender equality and human rights is central to inclusive development. The Gender and Human Rights Advocacy for Development Practitioners Training Course equips participants with practical knowledge, advocacy strategies, and tools to influence policies and programs that advance social justice.

The course examines the intersection of gender, human rights, and development, focusing on structural inequalities and systemic barriers that affect women, youth, and marginalized groups. Participants will analyze legal frameworks, policy instruments, and advocacy approaches to address these challenges effectively.

Participants will gain practical skills in designing advocacy campaigns, engaging stakeholders, and influencing policy and practice. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based approaches, ethical advocacy, and community-centered strategies to foster equitable development outcomes.

The program explores the role of national, regional, and international human rights frameworks, including conventions, treaties, and guidelines, in guiding gender-responsive advocacy. Participants will learn to apply these frameworks in program design, monitoring, and evaluation.

Emerging topics such as digital advocacy, social media campaigns, intersectionality, environmental justice, and climate-related human rights issues are integrated into the course. Participants will develop strategies to respond to contemporary challenges in development practice.

By the end of the training, participants will be empowered to lead advocacy initiatives, promote gender equality, strengthen accountability, and influence policies and programs that uphold human rights and inclusive development principles.
