Introduction

Transforming food systems through a gender lens is critical for achieving sustainable livelihoods, food security, and equitable economic development. This course equips participants with the knowledge and tools to integrate gender considerations into agricultural, food production, and value chain strategies.

The training explores the roles, challenges, and opportunities women and men face in food systems, from production and processing to marketing and policy engagement. Participants will analyze structural barriers that limit equitable access to resources, technology, and decision-making power.

Participants will gain insights into gender-responsive approaches for sustainable food systems, emphasizing inclusivity, efficiency, and resilience. The course examines policies, programs, and institutional frameworks that promote equitable participation in food systems.

The program provides practical skills for assessing, designing, and implementing gender-sensitive interventions in agriculture and food value chains. Participants will learn to use data, indicators, and participatory approaches to measure impact and inform policy decisions.

Emerging issues such as climate-smart agriculture, digital farming technologies, sustainable value chains, and nutrition-sensitive strategies are explored. Participants will develop strategies to respond to contemporary challenges while fostering environmental sustainability and economic resilience.

By the end of the training, participants will be empowered to drive gender-inclusive transformations in food systems, improve livelihoods, enhance food security, and advocate for equitable access to resources, technology, and markets.
