Introduction

Food security is a critical component of sustainable rural development, and integrating gender perspectives ensures that policies and programs are equitable and inclusive. This training course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to address gender disparities in agricultural production, food distribution, and nutrition outcomes.

The course explores how women and men experience different vulnerabilities and opportunities in rural food systems. Participants will gain practical tools to design and implement interventions that enhance productivity, resilience, and equity in food security programs.

Participants will learn strategies to strengthen women’s participation in agricultural value chains, improve access to resources and markets, and promote leadership in community food systems. The course emphasizes participatory approaches that empower local communities and foster collective action.

Emerging issues such as climate change, sustainable farming practices, digital agriculture, and innovative financing for rural food systems are integrated. Participants will analyze how these trends intersect with gender to create inclusive and resilient food security strategies.

The training also highlights the importance of monitoring, evaluation, and policy advocacy in rural development initiatives. Participants will develop skills to track progress, assess impact, and advocate for gender-sensitive food security policies at local, national, and regional levels.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to design and implement gender-responsive food security initiatives that enhance rural livelihoods, promote sustainable agriculture, and foster community resilience while aligning with national and global development goals.
