Course Introduction

Digital financial services are transforming global economies by expanding access to banking, payments, credit, and savings through mobile and online platforms. However, significant gender gaps persist in access, usage, and control of these services, limiting women’s economic empowerment. This course provides a comprehensive framework for advancing gender-inclusive digital financial systems.

Women often face barriers such as low digital literacy, limited access to mobile devices, lack of identification documents, affordability constraints, and socio-cultural restrictions. These challenges reduce their participation in digital financial ecosystems. This program examines practical strategies to close these inclusion gaps effectively.

A key focus of the course is understanding how digital financial service ecosystems operate, including mobile money platforms, fintech innovations, digital banking systems, and payment infrastructures. Participants will explore how these systems can be redesigned to ensure equitable access for all genders.

The program also addresses policy and regulatory frameworks that govern digital financial services. It highlights how governments and financial institutions can promote inclusion through gender-responsive policies, consumer protection mechanisms, and financial literacy initiatives.

In addition, the course explores the role of technology, data analytics, and innovation in expanding access to financial services. Participants will learn how digital tools can be leveraged to reach underserved populations and promote inclusive financial participation.

Ultimately, this course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to design and implement gender-inclusive digital financial service systems that promote economic empowerment and financial equity.
