Course Introduction
SClimate change continues to intensify environmental, social, and economic challenges across the globe, disproportionately affecting women, girls, marginalized communities, and vulnerable populations. Building climate resilience requires inclusive programme management approaches that recognize gender-specific vulnerabilities, strengthen adaptive capacity, and promote equitable access to resources, services, and decision-making opportunities. This comprehensive training course equips participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills to design, manage, implement, monitor, and evaluate gender-responsive climate resilience programmes that achieve sustainable development outcomes.
Gender-responsive climate resilience programme management integrates climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion into all phases of programme planning and implementation. It recognizes that women and men experience climate risks differently and that resilient communities depend on equitable participation, inclusive governance, and targeted investments. Participants will gain practical expertise in programme design, climate vulnerability assessment, gender analysis, stakeholder engagement, budgeting, risk management, and performance monitoring to improve programme effectiveness and long-term resilience.
The course is aligned with international frameworks including the Paris Agreement, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), and national climate adaptation and gender policies. Participants will explore how these frameworks support integrated climate resilience programming while promoting gender equality, environmental stewardship, and inclusive governance.
Throughout the programme, participants will learn practical approaches for managing climate resilience initiatives across sectors such as agriculture, water resources, health, infrastructure, energy, livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, urban development, and humanitarian response. Case studies, simulations, field-based examples, and collaborative learning exercises will strengthen participants' capacity to manage complex programmes, mobilize partnerships, coordinate stakeholders, and achieve measurable resilience outcomes in diverse operating environments.
The training also examines emerging issues shaping climate resilience programming, including climate-smart agriculture, nature-based solutions, artificial intelligence, geographic information systems, early warning systems, digital monitoring platforms, climate migration, green jobs, carbon markets, ecosystem restoration, climate justice, youth engagement, disability inclusion, indigenous knowledge, and resilient local governance. Participants will gain practical insights into integrating these innovations into programme management while addressing evolving climate challenges.
By the end of this intensive 10-day programme, participants will possess advanced competencies in managing gender-responsive climate resilience programmes from inception to completion. They will be equipped to strengthen institutional capacity, improve adaptive management, mobilize climate resources, enhance stakeholder collaboration, monitor programme performance, and deliver sustainable climate resilience initiatives that promote gender equality, environmental sustainability, and inclusive socioeconomic development.
