Introduction

Climate change poses significant threats to communities globally, with women and marginalized groups disproportionately affected due to socio-economic inequalities and limited adaptive capacities. The Gender and Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Building Training Course equips participants with knowledge, skills, and strategies to address these vulnerabilities through gender-responsive adaptation interventions.

The course examines the intersection of gender, climate change, and sustainable development, highlighting the importance of integrating gender perspectives in resilience planning and climate action programs. Participants will explore policies, frameworks, and community-based approaches that promote equitable climate resilience.

Participants will gain practical tools to assess climate risks, design adaptation strategies, and implement gender-responsive initiatives that strengthen community resilience. Emphasis is placed on participatory approaches, stakeholder engagement, and leveraging local knowledge for sustainable outcomes.

Emerging topics such as climate-smart agriculture, green technologies, disaster risk reduction, and digital tools for climate adaptation are incorporated. Participants will learn to harness innovative approaches to address climate vulnerabilities and enhance adaptive capacities across sectors.

The course also covers international and regional frameworks, including the Paris Agreement, SDGs, and African Union climate strategies. Participants will understand how to align local and national climate programs with global climate policies and gender equality commitments.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to design and implement gender-responsive climate adaptation programs, enhance resilience at community and institutional levels, influence policy, and promote sustainable, equitable climate solutions.
