Course Introduction

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) continues to affect millions of individuals globally, undermining health, safety, dignity, and social wellbeing. Effective response to GBV requires structured case management systems that prioritize survivor safety, confidentiality, respect, and empowerment. This training course equips participants with practical knowledge and technical skills required to design and implement survivor-centered case management systems that enhance protection outcomes and strengthen institutional response mechanisms across humanitarian, development, and social protection programs.

GBV case management is a coordinated process that ensures survivors receive comprehensive services including medical care, psychosocial support, legal assistance, and protection services. Participants will gain knowledge on how structured case management frameworks improve service delivery coordination, strengthen referral systems, and enhance accountability among stakeholders involved in GBV response programming. Emphasis is placed on ethical standards that prioritize survivor dignity, informed consent, non-discrimination, and respect for individual decision-making processes.

The program introduces structured methodologies for survivor intake, needs assessment, safety planning, case documentation, and follow-up processes that ensure continuity of care. Participants will learn how to design individualized case management plans that respond to the unique needs and priorities of survivors while promoting empowerment and recovery. The course emphasizes collaborative approaches that improve coordination between health providers, legal professionals, social workers, and protection actors.

Participants will explore psychosocial support approaches that address trauma, promote healing, and strengthen resilience among survivors. The course highlights trauma-informed care practices that minimize risks of re-traumatization while ensuring supportive and respectful engagement. Participants will gain practical communication techniques that enhance trust, encourage disclosure, and promote positive coping strategies that support survivor wellbeing and recovery outcomes.

The training also examines emerging issues such as digital gender-based violence, safeguarding responsibilities, ethical data management, child protection considerations, and accountability to affected populations. Participants will learn how to integrate technology-enabled case management tools that improve reporting accuracy, strengthen confidentiality, and enhance monitoring of protection outcomes. Emphasis is placed on strengthening institutional capacity to respond to evolving GBV challenges effectively.

By the end of the training, participants will have competencies to manage GBV cases professionally, apply survivor-centered approaches consistently, and strengthen referral coordination systems. The course provides actionable tools that improve service quality, enhance survivor protection outcomes, strengthen accountability frameworks, and promote ethical practices in GBV response programming across diverse operational contexts.
