Introduction

Food security and sustainable livelihoods are fundamental to community resilience and socio-economic development. NGOs and development practitioners need strategic knowledge and practical skills to implement interventions that reduce hunger, strengthen livelihoods, and build resilience.

This course equips participants with an understanding of food systems, agricultural development, market dynamics, and nutrition-sensitive programming. It emphasizes designing interventions that are context-specific, inclusive, and sustainable.

Participants will learn strategies for livelihood promotion, including income-generating activities, vocational skills development, and market linkages that empower vulnerable populations and enhance economic stability.

Resilience-building is central to mitigating the impacts of shocks, disasters, and climate variability. The course explores frameworks for disaster risk reduction, adaptive livelihoods, and community-based resilience strategies.

Monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEAL) approaches are essential for assessing impact and improving program effectiveness. Participants gain skills to track food security indicators, evaluate outcomes, and use evidence to inform interventions.

Through case studies, field simulations, and participatory exercises, participants will acquire the tools to design, implement, and scale programs that enhance food security, strengthen livelihoods, and foster resilient communities.
