Course Introduction

FinTech organizations combine financial services with technology platforms, digital infrastructure, automated processes, data-driven products, and third-party ecosystems. Their business models can include digital payments, electronic money, lending platforms, digital banking, payment processing, embedded finance, wealth technology, and other technology-enabled financial services. The FinTech Financial Controls and Assurance Training Course provides a comprehensive framework for evaluating the financial control and assurance environment within these rapidly evolving organizations.

The course examines how fintech businesses design, implement, monitor, and improve controls over financial transactions, revenue, expenses, customer funds, settlement accounts, financial reporting, reconciliations, and operational processes. Participants will learn how to assess whether financial information is complete, accurate, timely, properly authorized, and supported by reliable source data across highly automated technology environments.

FinTech financial controls often span multiple platforms, APIs, cloud environments, payment processors, banking partners, technology vendors, and data repositories. The programme therefore emphasizes control integration across interconnected systems. Participants will develop practical techniques for evaluating system interfaces, automated controls, transaction processing, data lineage, access management, reconciliation, exception handling, change management, and the reliability of technology-generated financial information.

The course also addresses risks specific to fintech business models, including customer-fund safeguarding, settlement exposure, revenue leakage, transaction errors, platform outages, fraud, unauthorized activity, third-party dependencies, cybersecurity incidents, data privacy, model risk, and regulatory compliance. Participants will learn how to identify financial control risks that may arise when traditional accounting processes interact with automated digital platforms.

Particular attention is given to assurance over digital assets and customer balances, payment flows, lending portfolios, platform revenues, fees and commissions, merchant settlements, chargebacks, refunds, liquidity, and financial reporting. Participants will learn how to combine traditional financial audit procedures with technology assurance, data analytics, control testing, and continuous monitoring to obtain sufficient and reliable evidence.

Through practical scenarios, control walkthroughs, transaction analytics, reconciliation exercises, technology control assessments, and an integrated fintech assurance case study, participants will strengthen their ability to evaluate financial controls and communicate actionable findings. The programme is designed to help auditors, finance professionals, risk specialists, and assurance teams address the distinctive control challenges created by technology-driven financial services.
