Course Introduction

Women’s participation in governance and decision-making is a fundamental pillar of democratic legitimacy, institutional accountability, and sustainable development. Yet across many governance systems, women remain underrepresented in leadership and policy-shaping spaces.

This Executive Program on Women’s Participation in Governance and Decision-Making is designed to strengthen institutional and leadership capacities that promote meaningful inclusion of women in political, administrative, and organizational decision-making structures.

The course explores structural, cultural, and institutional barriers that limit women’s participation in governance, while equipping participants with practical strategies to address inequality and strengthen inclusive leadership systems.

Participants will examine global frameworks, national policies, and governance reforms that promote gender-balanced representation and empower women as active decision-makers in public and private institutions.

A strong focus is placed on leadership development, advocacy strategies, institutional reform, and accountability mechanisms that enhance women’s voice and influence in governance systems at all levels.

Ultimately, the program prepares participants to advance inclusive governance systems where women’s leadership is normalized, supported, and integrated into all decision-making processes.
