Course Introduction

Institutional transformation can fundamentally change how an organisation operates, delivers services, allocates resources, engages stakeholders, and fulfils its purpose. Such transformation often creates uncertainty around leadership direction, organisational identity, roles, priorities, performance expectations, and future outcomes, making executive communication a critical component of successful transformation.

This course develops the advanced communication capabilities required to help executives lead institutions through complex and consequential transformation programmes. It examines how senior leaders can communicate the case for change, establish a compelling strategic narrative, address uncertainty, explain difficult decisions, maintain confidence, and connect transformation objectives with the organisation's wider purpose and responsibilities.

Participants will explore practical approaches for communicating transformation to employees, boards, regulators, customers, partners, communities, investors, government stakeholders, and other affected audiences. The programme focuses on executive visibility, leadership alignment, stakeholder intelligence, employee engagement, resistance management, organisational culture, and communication throughout the different phases of transformation.

The course also examines how artificial intelligence can strengthen transformation communication. Participants will consider AI-assisted stakeholder analysis, sentiment monitoring, natural language processing, narrative analysis, predictive analytics, scenario modelling, generative AI, and automated communication intelligence while maintaining human judgement, confidentiality, source validation, transparency, and appropriate governance.

Particular attention is given to the communication challenges that emerge when transformation creates disagreement, uncertainty, resistance, perceived loss, or competing interpretations of organisational change. Participants learn how executives can acknowledge legitimate concerns, explain difficult trade-offs, demonstrate accountability, and maintain credibility without overstating progress or creating unrealistic expectations.

By the end of the course, participants will have a structured framework for advising and preparing executives to communicate institutional transformation from initial strategic intent through implementation, disruption, adoption, evaluation, and long-term embedding. The emphasis is on leadership credibility, stakeholder confidence, employee alignment, strategic clarity, measurable communication outcomes, and sustainable institutional change.
