Course Introduction
Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) technologies have become increasingly important for maximizing hydrocarbon production, extending reservoir life, and improving the economic performance of mature oil fields. This comprehensive training course provides participants with advanced knowledge of thermal, chemical, gas injection, microbial, and hybrid recovery methods while emphasizing practical field implementation and reservoir-specific technology selection. Participants will gain the technical expertise needed to evaluate, design, monitor, and optimize EOR projects that improve recovery efficiency and support sustainable reservoir development.
As global energy demand continues to grow and conventional production declines from mature reservoirs, operators are increasingly relying on advanced recovery technologies to unlock additional reserves. This course examines the scientific principles governing multiphase fluid flow, displacement efficiency, mobility control, reservoir heterogeneity, and sweep performance. Participants will learn how reservoir characteristics influence EOR success and how integrated geological, petrophysical, and engineering analyses improve technology selection and project economics.
The program provides extensive coverage of thermal recovery processes, waterflood optimization, gas injection methods, chemical flooding, polymer applications, surfactant flooding, alkaline flooding, carbon dioxide injection, and emerging low-carbon recovery technologies. Participants will evaluate operational challenges, facility requirements, monitoring techniques, and production optimization strategies while studying successful international field applications and lessons learned from complex reservoir environments.
Special emphasis is placed on integrated reservoir management, dynamic simulation, laboratory testing, pilot project design, surveillance programs, production forecasting, and uncertainty management. Through practical exercises and real-world case studies, participants will develop the capability to assess reservoir performance, predict recovery improvements, optimize injection strategies, and manage EOR projects from feasibility studies through commercial implementation and long-term operational monitoring.
Emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital twins, intelligent field monitoring systems, advanced reservoir simulation, carbon capture utilization and storage integration, smart injection control, fiber-optic surveillance, and automated production analytics are incorporated throughout the curriculum. Participants will explore how digital transformation and sustainability initiatives are reshaping enhanced oil recovery strategies while improving operational efficiency, environmental performance, and long-term reservoir value.
Upon successful completion of this intensive training program, participants will possess advanced competencies in enhanced oil recovery technologies, field implementation methodologies, production optimization, reservoir surveillance, and project evaluation. They will be equipped to design effective recovery strategies, integrate multidisciplinary data, manage technical uncertainties, improve hydrocarbon recovery factors, and support profitable, safe, and environmentally responsible field development projects.
