Course Introduction

The global energy system is undergoing a profound transformation driven by the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy security, and promote sustainable development. The shift from fossil fuel dependence to clean and renewable energy sources requires strategic planning, policy innovation, and coordinated action across governments, private sector actors, and international organizations. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of energy transition pathways and clean energy strategies.

Energy transition is not only a technological shift but also a systemic transformation involving economic structures, regulatory frameworks, investment models, and consumer behavior. Countries are increasingly adopting clean energy strategies that integrate solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, hydrogen, and energy storage systems into national energy mixes. Participants will explore how these strategies are designed, implemented, and evaluated in real-world contexts.

The urgency of climate change has accelerated global commitments toward net-zero emissions, with many countries setting ambitious decarbonization targets. Achieving these targets requires coordinated energy planning, robust policy frameworks, and large-scale investments in clean energy infrastructure. This course equips participants with the analytical tools needed to understand and contribute to energy transition planning at multiple levels.

Energy systems are becoming increasingly decentralized, digitalized, and decarbonized, creating new opportunities and challenges for policymakers and energy professionals. Distributed energy systems, smart grids, and digital energy management technologies are reshaping how electricity is generated, transmitted, and consumed. Participants will gain insights into these emerging trends and their implications for energy strategy development.

Financing energy transition initiatives remains a critical challenge, particularly in developing economies where access to capital and technology is limited. Public-private partnerships, green financing mechanisms, and international climate funds play a crucial role in supporting clean energy deployment. This course explores financial models and investment strategies that enable scalable and inclusive energy transitions.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and strategic skills required to design, implement, and evaluate clean energy strategies, contribute to energy transition policies, and support the global shift toward a sustainable and low-carbon energy future.
