Course Introduction

Emerging Risks, Scenario Planning and Strategic Foresight Course is designed to help professionals anticipate, analyze, and prepare for complex and uncertain future risk environments. It equips participants with structured foresight tools to identify weak signals, emerging disruptions, and long-term strategic threats across industries and sectors.

The course explores how emerging risks such as climate volatility, geopolitical instability, technological disruption, cyber threats, and economic shocks interact to shape uncertain futures. Participants will learn how to move beyond traditional risk management approaches toward forward-looking strategic thinking.

A key focus is scenario planning as a structured method for exploring multiple plausible futures. Participants will learn how to construct, analyze, and apply scenarios to improve organizational decision-making, resilience planning, and strategic agility in rapidly changing environments.

The course also emphasizes strategic foresight methodologies, including horizon scanning, trend analysis, and systems thinking. These tools enable participants to identify early indicators of change and translate them into actionable strategic insights for leadership and governance.

Participants will also explore how organizations integrate foresight into enterprise risk management, strategic planning, and policy development. The course demonstrates how foresight-driven approaches improve long-term competitiveness, resilience, and adaptability in uncertain environments.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design scenario frameworks, conduct foresight analysis, identify emerging risks, and support strategic decision-making processes that prepare organizations for future uncertainty and disruption.
