Course Introduction
The Electronic Records and Information Governance Audit Course is a specialized professional program designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to manage, audit, and assure electronic records systems within modern organizations. It focuses on ensuring information integrity, accessibility, security, and compliance in digital recordkeeping environments.
This course provides a strong foundation in information governance frameworks, including records lifecycle management, electronic document management systems (EDMS), data classification standards, retention policies, and archival systems. Participants will learn how organizations structure and control electronic information assets.
A key focus of the program is auditing electronic records systems, where learners will explore how to evaluate data accuracy, assess retention compliance, validate metadata integrity, and review access controls. The course emphasizes ensuring that electronic records remain reliable, traceable, and legally defensible.
Participants will also gain practical knowledge in governance controls for digital records, including document version control, audit trails, encryption practices, access permissions, and regulatory compliance monitoring. They will learn how to assess whether information governance systems are effectively implemented and maintained.
The course further explores emerging issues such as cloud-based records management, AI-driven document classification, blockchain for record integrity, data privacy regulations, and digital preservation technologies. These advancements are transforming how organizations manage and secure electronic information.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to audit electronic records systems, evaluate information governance frameworks, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide assurance over the integrity, security, and accessibility of organizational digital records.
