Course Introduction

The Ecosystem Restoration and Natural Capital Training Course is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and tools required to restore degraded ecosystems while effectively valuing, managing, and sustaining natural capital for long-term environmental and economic resilience.

Ecosystems across the world are under increasing pressure from deforestation, pollution, land degradation, biodiversity loss, and climate change. This course addresses these challenges by focusing on practical restoration approaches grounded in science and policy frameworks.

Participants will gain a deep understanding of ecosystem functions, restoration ecology, and natural capital accounting systems that help integrate environmental value into economic and development decision-making processes.

The course emphasizes the interconnection between ecosystems and human well-being, highlighting how healthy ecosystems support food security, water availability, climate regulation, and sustainable livelihoods.

Through a combination of theory and applied practice, participants will explore restoration planning, landscape rehabilitation, biodiversity recovery, and ecosystem service valuation methodologies.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design and implement ecosystem restoration strategies that enhance natural capital and contribute to sustainable development goals.
