Course Introduction

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, have transformed environmental monitoring by enabling high-resolution, real-time data collection across diverse ecosystems. This course introduces participants to the principles, technologies, and practical applications of drones in environmental science and sustainability management.

With increasing environmental degradation and climate change impacts, drones provide an efficient and cost-effective way to monitor forests, wetlands, coastal zones, wildlife habitats, and pollution sources. Participants will learn how drone technology enhances accuracy, coverage, and timeliness in environmental assessments.

The course integrates remote sensing principles, geospatial analytics, and aerial imaging techniques to help learners understand how drone data is collected, processed, and interpreted for environmental decision-making and reporting purposes.
