Course Introduction

Effective disaster preparedness is crucial for public administration institutions to maintain essential services, protect citizens, and ensure governance continuity during crises. This course equips public officials with practical tools, strategies, and frameworks for proactive disaster management and resilience building.

Participants will gain expertise in identifying hazards, assessing organizational vulnerabilities, and developing robust emergency response plans. Emphasis is placed on integrating disaster risk reduction into policy, operations, and public service delivery for sustainable outcomes.

The course addresses multiple disaster scenarios, including natural hazards, public health emergencies, technological failures, and social disruptions. Participants learn how these risks can impact public administration and develop preventive and responsive strategies accordingly.

Through hands-on exercises, case studies, and scenario simulations, participants will practice crisis decision-making, resource allocation, and interdepartmental coordination. This approach ensures readiness for both expected and unexpected emergencies.

Collaboration is a key focus. Participants will learn how to coordinate with governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community stakeholders to implement effective emergency response measures and maintain public trust.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive disaster preparedness plans for public administration institutions, ensuring operational continuity, citizen safety, and institutional resilience.
