Introduction
Digital Records Management and Information Governance are now central to how modern organizations ensure accountability, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness. As institutions increasingly rely on digital systems, structured approaches to managing records throughout their lifecycle are essential for safeguarding institutional memory and supporting lawful, evidence-based decision-making.
The rapid expansion of electronic records, cloud platforms, and data-driven operations has significantly increased the complexity of managing information assets. This course examines how digital records management frameworks integrate with broader information governance structures to control information creation, access, retention, and disposition in line with organizational objectives.
Compliance requirements related to data protection, privacy, access to information, and sector-specific regulations place heightened responsibility on organizations to maintain reliable and defensible records. Participants will explore how governance mechanisms, policies, and controls reduce legal, financial, and reputational risks associated with poor information management.
Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation, analytics, and cloud computing are transforming how records are captured, classified, and preserved. This course critically assesses the opportunities and risks of these technologies, emphasizing responsible adoption while maintaining authenticity, integrity, and security of records.
Effective digital records management strengthens institutional resilience by supporting audits, investigations, litigation readiness, and crisis response. Through applied case studies, participants will understand how well-governed information systems enhance business continuity, transparency, and stakeholder trust in complex operating environments.
Designed for professionals responsible for information governance and compliance, this course combines theory, international standards, and practical tools. Participants will gain the competencies required to design, implement, and evaluate digital records management programs that align with governance, compliance, and digital transformation priorities.
