Course Introduction

Digital Data Analytics and Evidence-Based Decision Making for NGOs Course is designed to equip development professionals, NGO managers, monitoring and evaluation specialists, and policy practitioners with advanced skills in data analytics, interpretation, and evidence-based decision-making. In an increasingly data-driven development environment, organizations must leverage digital tools and analytical techniques to improve program performance, accountability, and impact.

The course explores the full data lifecycle in NGOs, including data collection, cleaning, management, analysis, visualization, and interpretation. Participants will gain a deep understanding of how to transform raw data into meaningful insights that support strategic planning, program design, and operational improvements. Emphasis is placed on aligning data systems with organizational goals and donor reporting requirements.

Evidence-based decision-making is central to effective development programming. This course examines how NGOs can use quantitative and qualitative data to inform policies, improve interventions, and measure outcomes. Participants will learn how to develop dashboards, performance indicators, and data-driven reporting systems that enhance transparency and effectiveness.

The training also focuses on modern data analytics tools and techniques including Excel analytics, SPSS basics, Power BI, Tableau, and open-source data platforms. Participants will explore how digital transformation is reshaping data use in NGOs, enabling real-time decision-making and predictive analysis for better program outcomes.

Emerging issues such as artificial intelligence in data analysis, big data for development, geospatial analytics, mobile data collection systems, and machine learning applications are integrated throughout the curriculum. Participants will understand how these innovations are transforming humanitarian and development decision-making processes.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to collect, analyze, interpret, and use data effectively to make informed decisions, improve program performance, and demonstrate measurable impact in development and humanitarian contexts.
