Course Introduction

Organizations increasingly depend on employees who can interpret, manage, analyze, visualize, and communicate data effectively. However, many organizations lack a clear understanding of their current data capabilities, critical skill gaps, and future workforce requirements. This course provides a structured approach to assessing data skills and translating assessment results into practical workforce capability and development plans.

The training introduces participants to frameworks for identifying data-related competencies across different organizational roles, departments, and professional levels. Participants will learn how to distinguish foundational data literacy from specialized analytical, technical, statistical, engineering, artificial intelligence, and data-management capabilities, enabling organizations to develop clearer profiles of their existing workforce skills.

A central component of the course is the design and implementation of data skills assessments. Participants will explore competency frameworks, skills taxonomies, assessment methods, surveys, practical tests, interviews, self-assessments, manager assessments, and evidence-based evaluation approaches. They will learn how to combine multiple sources of information to produce a more complete understanding of workforce capabilities and development needs.

The course then connects skills assessment with workforce capability planning. Participants will learn how to identify current-state capabilities, define target-state requirements, map critical skill gaps, prioritize development needs, and create structured capability-building plans. Analytical techniques will be used to examine workforce trends, role requirements, proficiency distributions, training needs, and future capability requirements.

Modern workforce planning increasingly incorporates data analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, data governance, and changing job requirements. The course therefore examines emerging data skills and evolving occupational profiles, helping organizations anticipate how technological changes may affect workforce capability requirements and learning priorities.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to design practical data-skills assessment programs and translate assessment evidence into workforce capability strategies. The course emphasizes measurable outcomes, continuous assessment, targeted learning interventions, internal mobility, workforce development, and responsible use of employee data to support sustainable organizational capability growth.
