Course Introduction

Cybercrime is an escalating threat to individuals, organizations, and governments worldwide. This course provides participants with comprehensive knowledge of cybercrime types, including hacking, phishing, ransomware, and financial cyber fraud. Participants will learn to identify, investigate, and prevent cyber threats, integrating legal, technical, and forensic approaches for effective risk management and compliance.

Digital evidence plays a pivotal role in modern criminal and civil investigations. Participants will gain hands-on understanding of evidence collection, preservation, authentication, and chain-of-custody protocols. Emphasis is placed on international standards for handling digital evidence, ensuring legal admissibility in courts and regulatory investigations.

Cyber forensics integrates computer science, law, and investigative skills. This course covers network forensics, malware analysis, forensic imaging, and data recovery. Participants will develop skills to analyze logs, detect intrusion patterns, and reconstruct events to support criminal, regulatory, or internal investigations.

The course also addresses emerging threats such as attacks on cloud computing, IoT devices, AI systems, and mobile platforms. Participants will learn proactive strategies to secure digital assets, comply with cyber regulations, and mitigate reputational and financial risks from cyber incidents.

Legal and regulatory frameworks are a central focus, including national cybersecurity laws, cross-border data privacy regulations, and international conventions against cybercrime. Participants will explore the interface between technology, law, and policy, preparing them to provide legal guidance, enforce compliance, and participate in cross-border investigations.

Through practical exercises, real-world case studies, and investigative simulations, participants will acquire the ability to lead cyber investigations, provide expert legal and forensic advice, and implement organizational cybersecurity strategies. The course ensures readiness for the evolving challenges in cybercrime, digital evidence, and forensic practice.
