Course Introduction

Credit analysis and risk management are central capabilities for financial institutions, lending organizations, investment firms, cooperatives, and corporate finance departments operating in increasingly uncertain markets. This course provides participants with practical and analytical frameworks for evaluating borrower quality, assessing repayment capacity, identifying warning indicators, and making informed credit decisions that protect profitability while supporting sustainable growth and responsible lending practices.

Modern credit environments require professionals to understand far more than financial statements alone. Participants will explore quantitative and qualitative assessment methods, industry analysis techniques, macroeconomic influences, behavioral indicators, and evolving regulatory expectations that shape credit decisions. The course combines theoretical understanding with practical applications to help participants improve judgment and consistency in credit evaluation processes.

The program emphasizes the complete credit lifecycle, beginning with customer onboarding and due diligence and extending through approval, monitoring, restructuring, recovery, and portfolio management. Participants will learn how strong credit governance frameworks reduce losses, improve asset quality, and strengthen institutional resilience during periods of economic volatility and market disruption.

Special attention is given to emerging risks affecting contemporary credit portfolios, including climate risk, environmental and social considerations, digital lending exposures, cybersecurity implications, geopolitical uncertainty, and artificial intelligence applications in risk assessment. Participants will understand how these developments influence risk appetite, portfolio diversification strategies, and long-term lending sustainability.

The course adopts a practical and highly interactive approach using case studies, credit memos, financial analysis exercises, scenario testing, and portfolio evaluation examples. Participants will gain exposure to real-world credit situations and develop the ability to interpret financial and non-financial information when making lending recommendations and risk management decisions.

Upon completion of the program, participants will possess stronger analytical capabilities, improved risk identification skills, and greater confidence in making credit decisions aligned with organizational objectives. The knowledge acquired will support enhanced portfolio quality, better capital allocation decisions, stronger governance standards, and improved organizational performance in competitive financial markets.
