Course Introduction

Construction Planning, Scheduling and Project Controls Course is designed to equip construction professionals, civil engineers, project managers, planners, schedulers, quantity surveyors, consultants, and infrastructure specialists with advanced knowledge and practical skills required to successfully plan, schedule, monitor, control, and deliver construction projects. The course integrates internationally recognized project management methodologies with practical construction planning techniques to improve project performance, optimize resource utilization, reduce delays, and enhance successful project delivery across infrastructure, building, transportation, industrial, and utility sectors.

Effective construction planning and project controls are fundamental to delivering projects on time, within budget, and according to specified quality standards. As construction projects become increasingly complex due to larger project scopes, multiple stakeholders, evolving technologies, sustainability requirements, and tighter contractual obligations, organizations require professionals capable of implementing structured planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and performance monitoring systems. This course provides participants with practical tools and engineering approaches for managing construction projects throughout their entire lifecycle.

Participants will develop practical competencies in work breakdown structures, critical path method (CPM), network scheduling, resource planning, earned value management, cost control, procurement planning, progress measurement, forecasting, delay analysis, project reporting, and construction performance monitoring. Through real-world case studies, practical scheduling exercises, project simulations, and engineering applications, participants will strengthen their ability to make informed decisions that improve project efficiency while minimizing risks and maximizing stakeholder value.

The course also explores emerging technologies transforming construction project controls, including Building Information Modeling (BIM), artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital twins, cloud-based collaboration platforms, drone progress monitoring, Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), advanced scheduling software, predictive analytics, and automated reporting dashboards. Participants will understand how digital transformation improves planning accuracy, communication, resource optimization, and project governance across modern construction environments.

Special emphasis is placed on contract administration, construction claims, schedule risk analysis, procurement coordination, productivity measurement, quality assurance, safety integration, sustainability considerations, and leadership in project controls. Participants will learn how to establish integrated project control systems that align technical execution, financial management, contractual compliance, and organizational objectives while supporting resilient and sustainable infrastructure development.

By the end of this course, participants will possess the practical knowledge, analytical capabilities, and leadership skills required to develop comprehensive construction schedules, implement effective project control systems, monitor project performance, manage risks proactively, and successfully deliver construction projects that meet quality expectations, financial targets, contractual requirements, and stakeholder objectives in dynamic and highly competitive construction environments.
