Course Introduction

The Concept Note, Logframe and Theory of Change Development Training Course is designed to equip development professionals with essential skills for designing high-quality, results-oriented project proposals. These three tools form the backbone of modern development planning, enabling organizations to clearly articulate problems, design interventions, and demonstrate measurable impact to donors and stakeholders.

In today’s competitive funding environment, donors require clear evidence of how proposed interventions will lead to sustainable change. Many proposals fail due to weak logical connections between activities, outputs, and outcomes. This course addresses this gap by building strong competencies in structured project design methodologies that meet international donor standards.

The programme introduces participants to the principles of concept note development, logical frameworks (logframes), and theory of change (ToC) models. Participants will learn how to transform complex development ideas into structured, persuasive, and results-driven project documents that clearly communicate impact pathways.

Special emphasis is placed on aligning project design tools with donor expectations, organizational strategy, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks. Participants will gain hands-on experience in developing coherent narratives, indicators, assumptions, and risk frameworks that strengthen funding proposals and implementation success.

The course also explores modern approaches to results-based management, adaptive programming, and digital tools for project design visualization. Participants will learn how to integrate evidence, data, and stakeholder input into robust project design frameworks that enhance accountability and effectiveness.

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to develop compelling concept notes, robust logframes, and clear theories of change that improve funding success rates and strengthen development impact.
