Course Introduction

Competition law and antitrust regulation are essential pillars of modern market economies, ensuring fair competition, preventing monopolistic practices, and safeguarding consumer welfare. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks that govern market behavior across industries and jurisdictions.

In an increasingly globalized economy, markets are vulnerable to anti-competitive practices such as cartels, abuse of dominance, price fixing, and restrictive trade agreements. These practices distort markets, limit innovation, and harm consumers, making strong enforcement of competition law critical for economic stability.

This course explores the foundations of antitrust law, including prohibitions on anti-competitive conduct, merger control regulations, and market dominance rules. Participants will gain insight into how regulatory authorities identify, investigate, and sanction anti-competitive behavior.

Special emphasis is placed on the role of competition authorities, economic analysis of markets, and legal standards used to assess competition violations. The course also examines procedural aspects of investigations and enforcement actions.

Participants will also explore global competition law frameworks, including regional and international approaches, and how multinational corporations must navigate diverse regulatory environments to remain compliant.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to analyze market structures, identify anti-competitive risks, and apply competition law principles to ensure lawful and fair business practices.
