Course Introduction

In many developing countries, particularly in rural and underserved communities, access to essential healthcare services and nutrition education remains limited. Poor nutrition, often driven by poverty, food insecurity, inadequate knowledge, and limited access to health services, contributes significantly to illness, reduced productivity, and increased vulnerability to communicable and non-communicable diseases. Malnutrition weakens the body's immune system, making individuals more susceptible to infections and slowing recovery from illness.

The Community Health and Nutrition Training Course is designed to strengthen the capacity of health professionals and development practitioners to deliver effective community-based nutrition and health interventions. The course equips participants with practical knowledge and skills to promote healthy eating, prevent malnutrition, provide nutrition counselling, conduct nutrition assessments, facilitate growth monitoring, and strengthen referral systems within communities.

Participants will learn evidence-based strategies for improving community health outcomes through integrated nutrition programmes, health promotion initiatives, food security interventions, and behavior change communication. The course also emphasizes empowering communities to make informed decisions that promote healthy lifestyles and sustainable nutrition practices.
